HTML entities — encode and decode
Encode special characters as HTML entities (< → <, © → ©) or decode entities back to text. Useful for safely embedding text in HTML and for reading encoded content. Runs in your browser.
FAQ
What are HTML entities?
A character written as &name; or &#number; – e.g. < for <, & for & or © for ©. They are used where the browser would otherwise treat the character as HTML.
Which characters are encoded?
Always &, <, >, double and single quotes. With “also encode accents” every non-ASCII character becomes a numeric entity.
When should I decode?
When you have text containing < or … and want to see the real characters – e.g. from a database export or RSS feed.
Is the text uploaded?
No. The conversion runs locally in your browser.
